From Kumon Australia families
“As my Kumon is challenging and I study it each day, I feel confident enough to take on harder challenges. Kumon has helped me to improve, not only in mathematics and English, but also in other areas. It’s helped me to become a better version of myself.”
“Before the start of Year 12, during the summer holidays, I decided to complete the entire course for my mathematics subjects. I think that was the biggest application of Kumon that I had in my Year 12 journey. I was doing pretty much what I did in Kumon, which was self-learning, identifying what I wasn’t so good at, then going back and really honing my skills in that area. That self-learning ability I garnered at Kumon was the driving force behind my ability to learn those subjects on my own.”
Questions parents ask
What happens at the diagnostic test?
Your child works through a short check of where they're up to in Maths, English or both. It isn't pass or fail. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes per subject for primary students, and up to 30 minutes for high school. Allow about 30 minutes for the visit for Year 6 and under, or about an hour for Year 7 and up. That includes Sarah's talk with you straight after the test.
Do I need to stay during the test?
You're welcome to stay, or you can pop out and come back about 15 minutes later.
Should my child do Maths, English or both?
We suggest both, because it gives Sarah the full picture of where your child is up to. If you'd rather focus on one subject, that's fine too. You choose when you book.
Is there a cost for the test?
No, the diagnostic test is free, and there's nothing to pay to book it.
When can the test be done?
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am to 2pm and 3pm to 7pm, and Saturday from 10am to 3pm. Some afternoon times aren't available while classes are on. The centre is closed on Wednesdays and Sundays. Online booking shows the next two weeks, from tomorrow. For another time, call or text 0459 346 943.
What does Kumon cost if we go ahead?
$160 per subject per month, plus a one-off $100 enrolment fee.
What ages is Kumon for?
Children can start from 3 years old, and the worksheets go all the way to Year 12 material.
What does a normal week look like?
Two visits to the centre each week, about 30 minutes per subject, plus 10 to 30 minutes of worksheets per subject at home each day. Class times are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 3pm to 6pm.
My child is behind, or ahead. Is that OK?
Yes. Each child starts at a level that suits them and moves on at their own pace, so being behind or ahead is fine. Sarah talks you through your child's starting point straight after the test.
Where is the centre, and where do I park?
